Join a team of passionate thinkers, innovators, and dreamers — and help us connect people and build communities to create economic opportunity for all.

About the team and the role:

The Global Seller Risk Management team plays a crucial role in providing eBay sellers of all sizes with the opportunity to thrive in our marketplace through a streamlined, consistent, and customer-focused experience. We align our strategies with eBay's lifecycle risk tolerance while prioritizing customer centricity to ensure clear, visible, and consistent risk actions. Our mission is to eliminate bad actors, prevent seller churn, and bolster confidence across the platform, encouraging both buyer and seller growth. As part of this dynamic team, you will focus on growing our balance payout strategies to support good sellers efficiently and manage potential risks associated with bad actors. This role demands urgency, a curious attitude, and a strong analytical approach to drive optimized strategies for risk management.

What you will accomplish:

  • Improve and expand Risk Management strategies to ensure efficient payments to good sellers and strategic management of potential risks.
  • Leverage AI tools and analytics to identify fraudulent activities and implement protective measures.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to develop and test innovative risk strategies that secure trust in our marketplace.
  • Analyze data to uncover insights and drive decision-making, increasing the efficiency of risk management strategies.
  • Own the creation of business requirement documents and coordinate the product development roadmap for timely execution of strategies.
  • Contribute to the team's growth by sharing analytical insights and encouraging a culture of curiosity and continuous improvement.

What you will bring:

  • Dedicated to the Hybrid Work Model, working onsite at our Austin, Texas office or our Salt Lake City, Utah office.
  • Degree in a quantitative field (BS with 3-5 years of experience or MS with 1-3 years of experience) and proficiency in AI tools for fraud detection.
  • Commitment to identifying and closing gaps used by fraudulent actors to protect the platform.
  • Proven ability to derive strategic insights from data, test new strategies, and communicate performance optimally.
  • Experience in drafting business requirement documents and driving product initiatives to successful implementation.
  • Proven evidence of ownership and urgency
  • Strong analytical skills with experience in SQL, Python, and R, paired with a passion for data-driven decision-making.
  • Excellent storytelling skills, using analytical insights to engage and advise stakeholders effectively.
