NSIPA provides a comprehensive suite of services, including credentialing and network operations, provider engagement, and contracting; care coordination and member outreach; and provider-and patient centered programs. As part of New York State's 1115 Medicaid Waiver, NSIPA plays a key role in identifying, screening, and addressing health-related social needs by connecting Medicaid members to community-based resources and care supports. These services are designed to strengthen provider efficiency, address health related social care needs, and advance value‑based care and population health opportunities. Position Overview:
As a Data Analyst Intern, you are early career analytics professional with a strong foundation in data analysis and a desire to grow your technical and consulting skill set. You support the delivery of analytics and reporting solutions that help internal team better understand their data and make informed decisions. You are comfortable working with structured datasets and are eager to deepen your experience in data modeling, visualization, and business analysis. You are curious, detail-oriented, and motivated to continuously improve your analytical skills.
This role also includes 1–2 hours per day handling operational tasks such as checks, claims processing, scanning, mailing, and supporting provider recruitment-related documentation.
Roles & Responsibilities:
· Assist internal teams and analysts in understanding business questions and translating them into analytical requirements.
· Analyze data to identify trends, patterns, and insights with guidance from team members.
· Support the development and maintenance of dashboards and recurring reports to track key metrics and performance indicators.
· Collaborate with analysts to understand business requirements and report on data such as care gaps, provider rosters, medical adherence, and membership, ensuring data quality, consistency, and accuracy.
· Assist in identifying opportunities to improve reporting, data quality, and analytical workflows.
· Create clear and informative visualizations and dashboards to help communicate data insights and support data-driven decision-making.
· Review and organize payer correspondence (including mailed communications) related to claims, timely filing, and appeals, ensuring documents are accurately identified and routed to the appropriate payer or internal team.
· Maintain organized records of incoming communications, supporting claim follow-ups and ensuring correspondence is handled with accuracy and attention to detail.
Skills & Competencies:
· Exposure to Python, SQL, advanced Excel, and Python libraries such as Pandas
· Foundational understanding of data analysis and basic data modeling concept
· Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail
· Familiarity with data visualization or BI tools (Power BI or Tableau)
· Ability to work collaboratively in cross functional environments
Required Qualifications:
· Bachelor's or master's degree in data science, Analytics, Computer Science, Statistics, Healthcare Informatics, or a related field
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, and analyze data with attention to detail and accuracy
- Exposure to Python, SQL, and advanced Excel for data analysis
- Curiosity and willingness to ask questions and learn from data and business context
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to summarize analytical findings clearly
- Strong problem-solving ability and attention to detail
